It has been a very busy but fun half term for all children at Weeth, as we have been on several trips across the school.
Year 3s visit to the Royal Cornwall Museum
Year 3 visited the Royal Cornwall Museum in June to learn some amazing facts based on their history topic of ancient Egyptians, they even got to see a real life mummy! Year 3 were taken on a workshop to hunt for clues in the desert sand and soon learnt that without evidence we wouldn’t know as much as we do about the Egyptians! They got the opportunity to see a variety of different things such as amulets, pottery, statues, and even masks from burial chambers.
The second part of the workshop was on the museum floor learning all about the museum’s very own mummy – Iset Tayef Nahk who lived around 2500 years ago! Followed by learning the real process of mummification and had to demonstrate this on a life-size doll mummy.
Class 2, 3 & 4 Litter Picking Adventure
Classes 2, 3 and 4 all went on a litter picking adventure around our local community. A lot of rubbish was found however they were pleasantly surprised that our school field was fairly clean, apart from a lot of dog mess, for the adults to dispose of, which was a bit disappointing.
Walking back to school they did find quite a bit of rubbish. The children hope that they have influenced and inspired other people to take care of our environment.
Class 4 Trip to Royal Cornwall Museum
During Class 4s Museum trip they saw a mummy and drew some pictures of Greek Pots which all had very strange names. The children had the opportunity to make pot designs for pots.
Class FS Trip to Tehidy Woods
FS2 had an amazing trip to Tehidy Woods, they enjoyed exploring and finding lots of different animals and birds including squirrels and a swan. There was a beautiful stream running through the woods and they really enjoyed looking at all the beautiful tree structures and colours that the woods had to offer.
Year 6 Activity Week
Year 6 have enjoyed their final trips at Weeth School, they have had a fantastic day at Flambards and lots of children faced their fears by going on rides they had never been on before. We also enjoyed a morning at the beach before heading off to the cinema to watch Raya and the Last Dragon. Whilst at the beach, a woman complemented the children on their outstanding behaviour and their politeness. Throughout the trips this week, the children have represented the school and we are so proud of their outstanding behaviour. They also enjoyed a disco too!
Year 2 Trip to Camborne Parish Church
We spent a morning in Camborne Church where we took part in many different activities as well as learning about the history of the building. We then enjoyed a picnic lunch in Camborne park, a play and then completed a thorough litter pick and left the area spotless!
The walk back to school was a lot slower than the walk to the church but we definitely had fun and learnt a lot.
Year 2 excelled themselves on our class trip, they were all impeccably behaved and represented our school fantastically.
