Eco Summit 2024

Water Safety

Eight Crofty schools attended the Water safety young leader training with Brendon Prince from Above Water. It took place at Treloweth school on Tuesday 26th March and was as part of our Crofty Sports Offer for 23/24.

Net Zero Hub

In 2020 the Hub commissioned a feasibility report across all the Crofty schools to identity where there might be opportunities for solar photovoltaics (PV). The Hub presented various funding options, along with business cases to help enable informed decision making.

Portreath Youth Sport Trust Award

Suzanne and Jess form Portreath school travelled to Telford last week to receive a national award from the Youth Sport Trust.
The school decided to use the Healthy Movers programme within the reception class after it was decided an alternative scheme to deliver PE wasn’t working. The Healthy Movers training was found to be easy to pick up as it fitted neatly into the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Lego Regional Winners

Back in September, the children were introduced to the Lego League and were given the opportunity to apply for a space on the team. Once the team was picked and the kit arrived, the team set off building the missions with Mrs Blight and getting to know each other as a team.

Cornwall Bikeability Training Provider

Crofty has been set up as a new supplier and Bikeability Training Provider for Cornwall Council. Patrick Shaughnessy from Treloweth school worked hard to secure £21000 worth of funding from Active Cornwall for Bikeability delivery across the trust. This means there will be 500 places fiully funded at £42 a child.
