The Year 6 children from Lanner went to London.

Oak Class created their own films linked to their work on Anglo Saxons. They then had an award ceremony (The Oakscars!) The hoodies are now part of their PE uniform and the children absolutely love wearing them. They feature the slogan ‘In This Together’ along with our logo and #TeamPennoweth.

This half term, pupils from years 3 and 5 at Weeth school went out into the community with Coastline to plant bulbs.

For our World Book Day, we have used Peter H. Reynolds book of ‘The Word Collector’ as our theme.

📚 School Librarians  📚

Please welcome our new Rosemellin School Librarians.Their roles include: keeping our amazing library well organised, being ambassadors for reading across the school and (as we move back towards more normal times) taking the lead in the lending and borrowing of books by our children.

Staff at Roskear, all received Talk for Writing training from Maria Richards, T4W consultant for the South West.

This half term, staff across the school have been following the T4W framework to plan and deliver the teaching of writing. It has been wonderful to see the engagement of both staff and children in this process –

Congratulations to four of our PE Coordinators: Patrick Shaughnessy (Treloweth), Alex Forder (Roskear), Suzanne Doble (Portreath) and Alex Woodmason (Rosemellin), who have completed their CYT Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycling,.

Year 4 enjoyed starting their learning about the Mayans. They made Maya hot chocolate, headdresses and played the ancient ball game Pok-aTok. Year 1 had a super time in their learning launch. Dinosaurs had been frozen in ice and caused much excitement. They used charts to identify them and drew sketches of their dinosaurs.

On 7th October Weeth school celebrated World Poetry Day by setting our children a challenge. Each of the teachers (and a special guest) disguised their voices and appearances and performed one of their favourite poems.
